About Kelly Garrity, LMFT
About Me
I specialize in helping adults overcome childhood pain, old fears, and ineffective relationship habits. I also help clients break free of old patterns and create the richer, more meaningful life they want and deserve to live.
Experience And Approach
I have an integrated and systemic approach to therapy, blending tools, and wisdom of the arts with evidenced-based, neuroscience-informed interventions. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR trauma therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, family play therapy, Gottman method couples therapy, mindfulness-based/stress reduction tools and techniques, as well as incorporating somatic, creative, and expressive art therapies.
Over the past two decades of clinical work, I have experienced working in a broad range of clinical settings with diverse populations including community mental health settings; psychiatric day treatment for children; group and private practices; neurofeedback clinics; and group, family, and individual therapy at substance abuse treatment facilities.
As a neurodivergent woman and parent of two children with learning differences and neurodiverse needs - I am passionate about working with neurodivergent people and their families, including those with ADHD, autism, learning differences, or those who may consider themselves to be “highly sensitive.”
While I feel most connected and fulfilled in caring for others, I have learned it is vital to take loving care of myself too! I do this through cultivating a love of music, yoga, and the arts: singing, playing the piano and ukulele, yoga and meditation, and writing are some of my favorite ways to renew and reset my own 'inner compass.'
